Our team felt aching hearts with the passing of one our Board of Directors and a friend.
Dave joined the Nanaimo Deep Discovery Association 4 years ago and remained committed to our project providing valuable insight. He facilitated a partnership between the working groups dedicated to making Nanaimo a better place and created opportunities for our ideas to grow beyond our expectations.
He was a tenured member of the ICET Board and former CEO of Coast Opportunity Funds, an organization responsible for managing conservation and economic development funds for participating Indigenous communities. In addition to serving as the economic development officer for the Snuneymuxw First Nation, he also served as chair of the National Aboriginal Forestry Association and a Director of the Aboriginal Forest Industries Council of BC.
As a business man, a community leader and a member of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, his contributions to our program were invaluable. OceanEXP Canada’s Centre For Ocean Exploration is where it is today because of Dave’s, like all of ours, passion and commitment. We will miss you and never forget what gave to this project.
